Opera’s Desktop Browser Now Supports Built-in TikTok App for Easy Access

Opera, a web browser developer, revealed that it had integrated TikTok into its desktop browser’s sidebar.

Starting Tuesday, Nov. 15, the company announced enabling users to watch videos and publish content without going to the app or opening a separate tab.

How to Enable the Feature

Based on a report by TechCrunch, users of Opera will need to right-click on the browser sidebar and then go to the Messengers area to activate the new function.

Users can enter the sidebar after it has been enabled, at which point they may browse through their TikTok feed located on the left-hand side of their screen before returning to whatever they were doing on their main page.

Integration of Social Media Apps and Desktop Browser

Although adding functionality to a sidebar is not a novel concept, Opera claims it is the only browser to include TikTok in its sidebar.

Instagram, WhatsApp, and Twitter are among the messengers and social media services that have already been added to the sidebar on Opera.

According to a statement released by Joanna Czajka, Product Director at Opera, people who have begun utilizing the messengers and social networking platforms accessible via Opera no longer want to go back to the old browsers without these easy-access apps. They seem to love the idea.

In addition, a poll conducted by Opera found that users between the ages of 18 and 35 were most interested in having an integrated version of TikTok.

The said platform is used by 54% of users in the 18-25 age bracket in the US who are also utilizing the Opera browser.

TikTok as a Dominant Social Media App

In spite of this, the rollout of an integrated TikTok feature by Opera is an intriguing decision considering that the majority of users prefer the mobile app.

According to a research study published by Sensor Tower, TikTok is now the app that brings in the most revenue. The social video app has been downloaded more than 175 million times by the beginning of the first quarter of the year 2022.

TikTok is one of the top applications in terms of downloads, consumer expenditure, and monthly active users.

App analytics company data.ai reported, via TechCrunch, that users in more than 12 global countries spend four to five hours per day on apps, with TikTok is one of the top apps based on these metrics overall.

According to TechCrunch, it is doubtful that the billions of TikTok users would utilize the lesser-popular browser. Still, the new function is sure to be appreciated by many Opera users.

“TikTok has developed from a platform full of short funny videos to a source of entertainment, news, and inspiration. With this release, Opera is answering our users’ requests to have TikTok at their fingertips,” said Czajka.
